The xTool D1 Pro is an upgrade to its previous model, the xTool D1. the Pro version has several upgrades in its build, laser module, software and electronics. You can even upgrade an additional infrared laser module, a laser head with unparalleled advantages for engraving metal. With its release, it has become one of the most powerful machines with the Atomstack X20 Pro diode laser engraver.
In terms of construction, the xTool D1 Pro is an open desktop laser engraver with an aluminum frame that incorporates linear guides. It has an effective working area of 430*390 mm and weighs about 15 lbs.
The xTool D1 Pro 20W is equipped with a state-of-the-art 20W fixed focus laser module. This means that it has 4 separate laser diodes inside, all focused on a single point, providing very good cutting power. The module has a red LED in one corner which projects a red crosshair on the workpiece below, which you can use to align the starting point of the engraving on your piece very precisely. This machine also has a flame sensor and a tilt sensor. If the material catches fire or if someone lifts the machine, it will automatically stop to prevent damage or injury.
The 450nm diode laser used on the xTool D1 Pro can process materials such as wood, leather, paper, acrylic, fabric, rock, ceramics, glass and metals such as stainless steel. Remember, as the laser output power increases, you can process similar materials faster, thus increasing your productivity.
For example, with the 20W version of the xTool D1 Pro, you can engrave parts at twice the speed of 10W. Interestingly, with the 20W laser module on the xTool D1 Pro, you can also perform color laser engraving on metals such as stainless steel. It oxidizes the surface layer of the metal by exposing it to laser beams of different speeds and feeds. The color varies depending on the engraving settings.
